In fact, the prominence of the paintball community's role in the outcome of the election has been recognized by the mainstream media and other internet outlets. John Hartford of America Now said, "The Splatter Times and paintball players have played a major role in this year's election. No doubt. They did."
Florida itself is home to over 30,000 paintball players and a few major tournaments. Does anyone, beside Jesse Jackson, doubt the effect that paintball players had?
Paintball players are a courageous bunch. True patroits and freedom fighters. Jerry A. Gaston once wrote, "Paintball players are honest, independent and extremely forthcoming." A great testament to our love of working hard and fighting for what is right.
This election has been a very long paintball game. The 15 minutes were up. The good guys won. But a few players from the other side kept arguing that they had won and sued the winning team. They kept on playing despite their leader's concession immediately after the game. Everything was on the line and they did not want to lose. But in the end truth won. America won. Paintball won.
Now that the crazy election (and battle for the election) is over it's time to think back and look ahead. Paintball players need continue working hard and playing tough. It's not over. The game may be over, but the war goes on. We have to teach our children the rules of the game. Teach them that when you lose, you lose Train them to be good men and women. Assist them in their quest for a higher level. And cover them when they need cover. We have to work locally and regionally. After all, "All paintball is local."
