Predator AFA 5.0 Shocker Board
Joey Tepsic

02/05/2006

The Predator AFA 5.0 Shocker board is easy to identify with it's splashy red color.
Are you one of those people who has to have the very best? We all want to have teh very best of something, whether it's the very best marker, car, or Shocker. If you own a Shocker, you need this modification and upgrade. This board packs the most modes, adjustability and the best vision software on the market.

The Predator 5.0 circuit board packs 13 modes ranging from semi-automatic, to PSP, to OMFG mode, and even breakout mode. Other features include adjustable ABS, debounce, ramp start and eye sensitivity. This board also can support break beam eyes! No matter what you are looking for, this board is for you!

After reading up about all the aftermarket circuit boards available for the Shocker, I decided to go with Predator for all the reasons I have listed above. This board sounded like it had everything a person could want in a board. So, I went ahead and ordered the board from Punisher's Paintball and waited anxiously. The package finally came in mail and it was from Punisher's. I tear the box open and there it is, my new Predator board.

My first impression on the product was that it comes in a very nice and sturdy box from TAG. So after taking the board out of its packaging, I installed it as quick as I could so I could mess around with it. One problem that I came across after installing the board was that it's a very tight squeeze putting the battery in the grip frame because it has another plug in which you can put the break beam eyes in, but don't worry you wont brake the board after installing the board.

After I got the board installed and the battery in, I booted the gun up in programing mode by holding the trigger down while turning the marker on. I start looking at the instructions and raised the ROF to its max and put it on OMFG mode and was amazed! The solenoid clicked so fast and with the added modes you will have any mode you need for any tournament. At that point I knew I needed to get to the field.

I was finally able to get out to a field to test this beast out. I had to set up all the registers to my prefrence which again all you have to do is hold the trigger down and turn the marker on. So after turning off the eye delay and firing delay I got the marker ripping. I set the ROF Cap to 30 and the gun sounded like a chainsaw! It shot some fast ropes that the nerve board could never do for me. I was in total shock!

Another thing worth mentioning is that TAG came up with their own eye logic that can actaully see black paint without a problem, it will even detect light shining into your feedneck as a ball. So you need to set your eye logic for your paint color. It is nice that they took this into consideration when designing the eye technology.

Overall this board gets two thumbs up. This is an amazing product and if you are looking for the best Shocker board on the market, you have found what you are looking for. This has every mode that you will ever need, all the adjustments to fine tune your shocker. With the very best eye logic and the option to install break beam eyes into your Shocker clearly leaves this board the first and only choice to max out your Shocker's performance.
